Finished Project Week #3 + First Giveaway

Here is the finished project for Week #3.
(Tutorial here)

I added some embellishments because I can never ever resist an embellishment. . . .ever.

I threw on some buttons and made some selvage rosettes. I want to find a way to incorporate the rosettes in another project down the line.
Hey, I still have 49 projects to go!

One of these bags is going to my teenage daughter (the Princess P) and one of them is going to Karen over at The Selvage Blog as a thank you for helping out a newbie blogger out of the kindness of her quilting heart. I am still amazed at her generosity in reaching out to me.

The third bag is going to go out to one of my new followers (and you are all really new followers aren't you?) as a thank you for coming over to see my blog, as new as it is, and being so kind to me, as inexperienced as I am.

To enter:
1.Become a follower if you aren't already.
2.Leave a comment below letting me know what weekly projects/challenges you might want to see in the future and/or what was your all time favorite sewing project.
I will do a random drawing on the 28th of all the comments posted.
Good Luck and thank you again.

  2. You're right! I am a new follower! Your bags turned out great, especially with the embellishments! I love bags and would love to see some fresh new ideas for bag making. Also ideas or challenges for using up stash fabric would be wonderful. I've been doing lots of projects to use up what I have and would like to continue that until my sewing room looks like Mother Hubbard's cupboard!

  6. This is a great blog and I'm now a follower. Love the selvedge bags. I've stated a collection but it does take some time. I would also like to see a project using novelty fabrics. I bought quite a few a while ago to make an I Spy quilt, but they seem to have gone out of fashion at the moment and I've never found quite the right pattern.

  9. Now you have me saving the salvages!! Love the bags but think I'll send you what I save. I'm so time challenged I have problems just sewing solid fabric --- of which I do have plenty. LU and love seeing pics of your little model Lily -- I've very proud of you two creative women. Aunt L

  11. I am a new follower of your blog...yep, couldn't sleep and came to the computer to browse!

I love your bag tutorial. I've seen those metal tape measure purses and thought they were awesome. Would be really fun to win one of YOURS!! Love the embellishment, too!

Thanks for the chance to win one. I'll be stopping back soon (and often) to see more of your creations and reading about what's happening in your world.

  13. Adorable bags! I'm partial to any tutorial, but have been making pincushions and projects that use jelly rolls. I have a ton of layer cakes, but just can't seem to make myself cut them up :0) Can't wait to be a follower for a long time!

  14. Congrats on the new blog Heather. I am a new blogger too and am still finding my way around the how to's of blogland. I would love to see more work with selvages. I am taking a shot at making some postcards right now and am pleased at my progress. Now to see if they really will go through the mail.

  17. Great blog, I enjoyed reading all of it. I liked the Sienna dress, I've always wanted to make one but haven't had anyone to make it for yet. I'm also interested to see what you end up making your heating bag with, my husband has bad knees and I'm sure would appreciate one too.

  18. Heather, I love your blog and am very glad that Karen Griska steered us your way. I have become a follower, one of those without a photo because I can't seem to choose a photo that's small enough to work.

I love your selvage bag tutorial. I have the measuring tape, the selvages and now, thanks to you, the know-how! I love Lily bear too! As for what I would like to see you post, you're creative, I'm eager to see whatever you post!
